Each game is 25 minutes running time. The referee will access a quick timeout halfway through the game for teams to regroup and switch sides.
Each half begins with a faceoff. Any player not taking the faceoff must line up behind GLE on either end of the field. Once the whistle is blown, players can move freely.
Teams must have 4 field players and 1 goalie on at all times. There are no off-sides.
All player substitutions are on the fly through the designated box area
There are NO timeouts
All players must use short-sticks. No long-poles are allowed.
Goalies are allowed to wear box equipment, but it is not required. Hockey leg pads and chest protectors are not allowed.
All penalties will be called. In case of a penalty, a 3 on 2 fast break from midfield will be awarded to the offended team.
In a flag down situation, if the offended team scores, penalty is nullified (no fast break).
Players that commit a personal foul bust be subbed out.
A game ending tied will be decided by a 2v2 Braveheart. Two players from each team are selected and will begin with a faceoff. No substitutions are allowed.
After a goal is scored the ball is awarded to the scored upon goalie who puts the ball in play from his crease area. A referee must whistle to indicate play has recommenced. Referees will record each goal before resuming play.
The riding team may NOT drop below the opposing teams GLE. A goalie is permitted a free pass to teammate behind the goal if he prefers.
There is no “out-of-bounds”. All sides of the field are either netting or wall. If a ball hits either the wall or netting it is still in play and can be picked up by any player; no whistle will be blown. If the ball hits the wall or netting and is “stuck”, the referee will blow the whistle and award the ball to the closest player.
There is no pushing or shoving allowed along the walls/nets. Referees will be monitoring this closely and assess warnings and/or penalties as needed.
Body checking and/or one-handed checks are NOT permitted.
Moving picks are NOT permitted.
All sticks must meet High School regulations. If referees feel a stick may be illegal, the player will be asked to go do the sideline until the stick can be checked by the referee during a dead ball.
NO FIGHTING! ANY PLAYERS OR COACHES INVOLVED IN A FIGHT WILL BE EXPELLED FROM THE TOURNAMENT. NO second chances. There is ZERO tolerance for fighting.
Flagrant fouls: 1st offense – expulsion from game; 2nd offense (occurring anytime during tournament after first offense) – expulsion from tournament. The certified referee will be the sole determinant as to where a foul is flagrant or not.
TIEBREAKER:
Head-to-head
Goals Against
If Goals Against are equal, and there was no Head-to-head matchup, we will play a 5 minute tiebreaker game to determine the division winner.
